Energy independence Day

Waste Oil Recyclers and Go Green Automotive are happy to announce the first annual�Energy Independence Day. The goal of this event is to highlight local businesses that are working towards lessening both dependence on fossil fuels and the environmental impact of energy use.

Demonstrations of waste vegetable oil conversions and biodiesel production will take place; vendors will be available to answer questions about biofuel. State officials and representatives will attend to show support for local initiatives towards energy independence. There will be a raffle, live music and activities for children. Food will be provided by Baxterss restaurant and there will also be a tasting of handcrafted beer from Victory Brewery.

Energy Independence Day will be held on Sunday, August 31stfrom 12pm - 5pm at Go Green Automotive at 601 W. Strasburg Rd, West Chester,PA 19382. Swingin' Summer Thursdays

Look for BLUER at the West Chester Recreation Department’s Swinging Summer Thursday events, held the first Thursday during the summer months (July 3, August 7, and September 4). We will have a table where you can meet the steering committee, pick up some energy efficiency information, and sign up for our mailing list.

a free forum sponsored by Chester County Democracy Caucus. Tuesday, July 1, 7 p.m., in West Chester Borough Hall, 401 E. Gay St. (park in back). Speakers are Dianne Herrin, chair of BLUER (an advisory group that assists West Chester Borough in reducing greenhouse gas emissions) and Anne Crowley (PA Outreach Coordinator for Global Warming, National Audubon Society). Thursday, March 20, 2008: Energy STAR Training Session for the building and architectural community and Borough building owners. BLUER is holding a training seminar on Thursday, March 20, to educate the building/ architectural community about West Chester's new Energy Star requirements for taller buildings. The seminar will take place in the West Chester University Graduate Business Center's computer lab at 1160 McDermitt Drive. Admission will be free. EPA representatives from Washington, DC, will conduct the training in two sessions. The first session will be held from 10 am to 11:30 am and will focus on our new Energy Star requirements for new, taller buildings. The second session, which will go from 1 pm to 2:30 pm, will focus on Energy Star's program for existing buildings and will be open to the public, including building owners.
